About:
ThinkingFitness is a program designed for individuals with special-needs. It focuses on training whole-body coordination, balance, agility and reflexes to strengthen the mind. In addition to physical training, ThinkingFitness demands the brain’s participation by integrating brain games and memory recall during sessions.
Nathaniel began with GoodBuddyBoxing in March of 2025 to provide coordination, agility, balance and stamina training to strengthen neurological networks. ThinkingFitness adds on to this by integrating brain games during sessions and gives tailored take-home work to keep the brain engaged after the work-out. We don’t train to hit we train the brain.
Nathaniel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences, and Biology from Duquesne University and has a certificate in Neurobiology of Sports Performance. While taking graduate courses such as Anatomy, Physiology, Kinesiology, and Cadaver Lab his interest in the mind-body connection grew. A fan of using boxing as exercise, he began training his classmates.
This started the pursuit of understanding how the complex movements of boxing connect to the mind. However, the main motivation behind starting a fitness program for neurodiverse and physically challenged individuals came from seeing how exercise changed his brother Luke. Born with a rare neurological disorder, 5 days of 15 minutes on the rower showed changes beyond amazement. Luke’s conversation skills, awareness, alertness, engagement, independence to physical changes and clearer skin, improved and it was apparent to all. The goal of ThinkingFitness is to bring this out of every individual, no matter where the starting point is.
Nathaniel grew-up working with individuals with a variety of needs and continues to provide accommodating instructions and support. He grew up volunteering with Hunterdon Outreach Program (HOP’s), a program dedicated to offering recreational sports for special-needs athletes, is a Special-Olympics Coach, and works as a Teacher’s Assistant supporting young students with various disabilities and behavior dysregulation.
